Sketch of man circulating on social media not related to Kansas college rape investigation
The college rapist Riley County and Lawrence police are looking for is not the man depicted in a composite sketch circulating on social media.
The Riley County Police Department said on Twitter that there isn’t a sketch of the man they believe is connected to 12 rapes and two attempted rapes reported by Kansas State University and University of Kansas students. The image of a man that has recently been posted is related to a different case, RCPD said.
At a news conference last week, authorities said the 14 sexual assaults incidents, which span 15 years, appear to be connected.
Riley County police Director Brad Schoen said the assaults involved a masked intruder entering a victim’s off-campus residence, typically between 2 and 4:30 a.m., while the victim slept. All but one coincided with a break in the academic calendar, he said. In most cases, the intruder used a handgun to threaten the victim into complying.
